Managing user groups
How to create a user group, add and remove members, and when a group can be deleted. This function belongs to the super administrator.
Membership of a user group determines the basic access a user logs in with. On this screen the super administrator creates groups, adds and removes members and deletes groups that are no longer used.
Before you start
- The screen is available to the super administrator only. The menu item reads Users → User groups.
- The user you want to add must exist under Users → Users.
Creating a group and adding members
- Open Users → User groups. Each row shows the number of members and the number of system permissions assigned to the group.
- For a new group click Add at the top right; for an existing one click the row's Edit icon.
- Fill in Group name and, if needed, Sort order.
- Click Save.
- In the members block type the name into Search a user by username, name or email… and choose the match: the user moves into this group.
- To take a member out, click Remove next to their row. The user is not deleted but moved to the default group.
