Setting up sending channels
For each client company (and, if needed, each module) define which protocol and which sender the mail goes out with. Without a channel nothing is sent.
A sending channel tells the system how and in whose name it sends mail for a client company: Gmail, MS365, SMTP or the server's own mailer, with sender address, name and limits. If a client has no active channel, no mail can be sent for it.
Adding a channel
- Open Mail → Sending channels.
- Click the blue + button at the top right.
- Enter the Channel name, choose the Client company and, if needed, the Module (without a module the channel applies to all mail of the client).
- Choose the Protocol. For Gmail and MS365 also choose the API account; for SMTP fill in SMTP host, Port, User, Password, Encryption and Timeout (seconds).
- Enter the Sender address and Sender name.
- If needed set Attachment limit (MB), Hourly send limit, Send mode, Delay before sending (seconds), Retry attempts, Time between retries (seconds) and Sort order.
- Click Save, then run the connection check on the form to see whether the channel works.
Rules and messages
- The sender address must be a valid e-mail address: "A valid sender address is required!"
- "Gmail and MS365 require an API account — without it there is no token to send with!"
- Send mode is Queued (cancellable) or Immediate.
- A channel in use cannot be deleted permanently; deactivate it instead, or depending on your permission it goes to the bin.
Example
Mail of Sample Ltd. should go out from "invoices@sample.co.uk" with the name "Sample Ltd. Finance". You add a channel with the SMTP protocol, Sample Ltd.'s server details and at most 100 mails per hour. The connection check succeeds; from now on mail sent for Sample Ltd. uses this channel.
