Object timeline: every record along a shared label
How to find all invoices, ledger entries and other objects that carry the same label value (for example a licence plate or contract number), in chronological order.
If the same label value appears on several invoices, entries and records, for example a vehicle's licence plate or a contract number, the object timeline treats this shared link as a connector and lists the objects belonging to it in chronological order with date, type, amount and link.
Step by step
- Open Reports → Object timeline.
- Filter with Group and type into Search (label or value, e.g. plate, contract no.), then click Filter.
- The list shows the connectors: Connector, Types and the number of Objects.
- In a connector's row click Show timeline.
- The timeline shows Date, Type, Object and Amount per row; Open opens the object.
- Back to connectors returns to the list.
Points to note
The timeline only displays, it changes nothing. The list does not filter by company: every object carrying the link is shown.
Example
Sample Ltd.'s fleet manager types the licence plate of a company car into Search. In the connector's row he clicks Show timeline and sees, in chronological order, the leasing invoices, the service invoice and the insurance ledger entry with their amounts.
