Issuing and finalising default interest documents

How to produce default interest documents for one or many invoices, what happens in the background for large lists, and when to finalise the document.

The system keeps one default interest document per base document. While the principal is unpaid, the document is “Interest under calculation” and can be refreshed; once the principal is settled you can finalise it. A finalised document is no longer changed by the system.

Before you start

The invoices need an interest rule (see Interest rules and assigning the rule).

Issuing or refreshing

  1. Open Finance → Settlements & Interest and filter.
  2. Tick the invoices and click the invoice-with-dollar icon in the header (Issue / refresh default interest). For one invoice use the same icon in its row.
  3. If you selected no rows, the system asks whether to produce the documents for the whole filtered list.
  4. The response tells you how many documents were issued, refreshed or skipped, and why.
If the filtered list has more than 3,000 rows, the documents are produced in the background. You can follow the run in the background job list; refresh the list in a few minutes. If no client company is set in the filter, the job runs for every client.

Finalising

  1. When the principal has been settled, click the row's green tick icon (Finalise the default interest document (the principal is settled)), or for several invoices Finalise default interest.
  2. The document becomes “Interest finalised”. Finalised documents are not changed by manual or background refreshes.

Example

After 30 days of delay on Example plc's HUF 1,200,000 invoice the accountant issues an interest document. A week later the customer pays the principal; the accountant refreshes the document, which now counts the actual 37 days, and finalises it.
