Querying missing tax returns
How to ask NAV which tax returns of a client are missing, and how to filter, refresh or delete the list returned.
The Missing Tax Return menu shows, per client, the returns that have not been filed according to the Hungarian tax authority (NAV): the name, type, period and original deadline of each return. You see at a glance what still has to be filed.
Before you start
The access needed for NAV queries is set by the system operator; the client company must have a tax number.
Steps
- Open NAV → Missing Tax Return.
- Choose Client Company GROUP and Client Company.
- Click the red NAV sync (Missing Tax Returns) button. The system downloads the list for the selected companies.
- Narrow the list with Return type, Return identifier, Deadline from and Deadline to, then click Filter.
What the query does
- After a successful NAV answer the company's earlier rows are deleted and replaced by the fresh list — the list always shows the state of the latest query.
- If NAV has no missing return, the system says so and removes the earlier rows.
- If the NAV answer is an error, the earlier list is left untouched.
- The red bin button in the header deletes the selected rows. The next query brings back the state according to NAV.
- The query can also run per client as a scheduled background job.
Example
After the query for Sample Ltd. two rows appear: a monthly contribution return for September 2026 with the original deadline 12 Oct 2026, and an annual return. The accountant files them and queries again a week later; the list is empty and the system reports that NAV has no missing return.
