Links in outgoing e-mails: large attachment and unsubscribe
The recipient downloads an attachment that is too large through a link and can unsubscribe from the newsletter with one click; both work without sign-in.
The system's outgoing e-mails can contain two links that the recipient uses without signing in. If an attachment is too large for the e-mail, the e-mail contains a download link instead. Newsletters contain an unsubscribe link.
What the recipient does
- For a large attachment, click the download link in the e-mail. The file downloads straight away.
- If the link does not work, ask the sender again: the link can expire, the sender can revoke it, and a deleted document cannot be downloaded. In these cases the system shows a neutral "not found" page.
- To unsubscribe from a newsletter, click the unsubscribe link in the e-mail.
- The Unsubscribe page shows: "Your request has been processed. If this address was on our newsletter list, it has been removed. Contractual messages such as account statements and invoices are not affected."
After unsubscribing, the address is on the newsletter block list, so bulk newsletter sending skips it. Invoices, statements and other contractual e-mails still arrive.
Example
An employee of Example plc receives Sample Ltd.'s newsletter and clicks the unsubscribe link. The next newsletter is no longer sent to them, but the monthly invoice notice still arrives.
