Assigning interest rules, recalculation and recovery fees
Assigning an interest rule to the selected invoices, recalculating open balances, issuing the EUR 40 recovery fee and re-checking fees that are no longer justified.
With these buttons on the Settlements & Interest list you keep invoice status up to date: assign rules to invoices, recalculate open balances from the documents, and issue or review the recovery fee.
Assigning an interest rule
- Open Finance → Settlements & Interest and tick the invoices.
- Choose the interest rule and click the percent icon (Apply rule to selected).
- On success the system says how many invoices it was applied to. Without a selection or a rule: “Warning: Select at least one invoice and an interest rule!”
Re-check and refresh
- Click the circular arrows icon (Recheck and refresh the filtered rows). The system recalculates the open balance of the filtered invoices from the documents and, if you have the right, also refreshes the interest documents.
- For one invoice use the row's Refresh calculation icon.
Recovery fee
- Tick the overdue invoices and check the MNB EUR/HUF rate field above the list.
- Click the euro icon (Generate recovery fee (EUR 40)), or for one invoice the row's euro icon.
- The system issues a EUR 40 document per invoice, converted at the MNB rate of the first day of delay, with a note and a PDF. If a live fee already exists on the invoice, it is skipped.
The shield icon (Re-check recovery fees on the filtered invoices) removes fees whose base invoice was paid in full by the due date. A fee document that is already settled is not deleted even then — the system lists which ones were kept and why.
If there is no rate for the first day of delay: “Warning: no MNB EUR/HUF rate could be resolved for the first day of delay — synchronise the rates in the Exchange rates menu and try again!”
Example
A customer of Sample Ltd., Example plc, paid an invoice due on 5 Oct 2026 on 26 Oct 2026. The accountant selects the invoice and issues the EUR 40 recovery fee; the HUF amount is calculated at the MNB rate of 6 Oct 2026.
